Goldfields Piping Weekend 2017

The Celtic Piping Club is excited to host the 5th annual Goldfields Piping Weekend on 11-13 August 2017.

Held in a new venue, the lovely National Trust listed property of Campbell St Lodge in Castlemaine (Victoria), the weekend will provide opportunities to get together with other pipers to play, learn and socialise.

The weekend is ideal for players of, or people interested in, the Scottish smallpipes, uilleann pipes, Northumbrian smallpipes or any other form of Celtic pipes. This includes both mouth-blown and bellows-blown instruments. Partners are also welcome.

The programme will include music and technical workshops, maintenance, demonstrations, meals, socialising and informal playing in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Friday 11 August

Participants arrive between 4 pm and 8 pm. There is no meal supplied on the Friday night, but we will arrange for a group meal at a local eatery or to dine in. This will be at your expense. Participants are also welcome to use the kitchen to prepare or heat food. Take-away and dining out meals are available locally.

Friday evening will be an opportunity for pipes maintenance (to make sure they’re in working order for the weekend!) and a night of social piping.

Saturday 12 August

There will be a full day of workshops between 9 am and 4 pm.

In the afternoon the Celtic Piping Club usually host a soiree at a local venue, open to the public. This soiree is a casual pre-dinner affair with drinks, nibbles and piping - what more could you want! Details of the soiree for this year are yet to be confirmed, but we'll let you know the details when available.

The day will conclude with dinner at a local establishment (at your own expense), followed by social piping back at our accommodation. Note to pipers - head to our Tunes pages under 'Resources and Links' for some music to common tunes we can share at the sessions.

Sunday 13 August

Starting a little later to recover from a big night of playing music, the day will commence at 10 am and conclude with lunch and check-out by 1.30 pm.
